5:30 ChoirMission Statement
The Holy Family 5:30 Youth Choir strives for spirituality through music ministry. In a professional manner, the 5:30 Youth Choir leads the assembly in prayer through song by means of a cantor or ensemble, utilizing a variety of musical instruments and musical styles and serves the parish community in the spirit of love and sharing. “All Are Welcome” is the motto of the parish.

Highlights of the 5:30 Youth Choir Ministry

In addition to Sunday Mass, the 5:30 Choir joins the other Holy Family choirs in offering an annual Advent concert, usually on the first Sunday of December.

Annually the 5:30 choir attends a retreat, where the members learn new music and have a time to connect spirituality to their gifts as musicians.

Choir members are occasionally invited to sing at weddings and funerals and other special events.  The 5:30 Choir brings their talents to the celebrations of First Eucharist and Confirmation.

History of the Choir
The 5:30 Youth Choir began in 1991 as a monthly liturgy, celebrated in the Annex (former Youth Ministry building). Anna Delgado was asked to lead the music for this Mass and she accepted. Little did she know what blessings the future held.

The group consisted of an out-of-tune piano, a couple of guitars, a tambourine, and four singers. Within a few months, the youth and parents who attended this Mass outgrew the Annex and the monthly Mass was moved to the church.

After the move to the church, the choir grew and we had a piano that was in tune. Word spread that there was a 5:30  Sunday Mass and before long the small group of youth was joined by other parishioners seeking a later Mass on Sunday.

In fall 1993, the choir was asked to sing weekly at 5:30 p.m. Mass. On November 30, 1993, the choir began its journey of becoming music ministers. We have been leading our 5:30 p.m. assembly in song since then and look forward to many more years of being part of this special community.

In early 2010 after years of service Mrs. Anna Delgado retired and the whole parish celebrated with her and the very talented musicians she attracted to this ministry.

Ben Coria took over the leadership of the 5:30 Youth Choir in early 2010.  Ben was once a teen member of the choir and lead the choir until 2016.

Tony Cheng took over the 5:30 Youth Choir in 2016.
