Mission Statement
The commissions assist in giving direction to the five aspects of parish life: Worship, Education/Formation, Outreach, Community Life, and Administration.
About the Commissions
The five facets of parish ministry, Worship, Education/Formation, Outreach, Community Life, and Administration, each have a body of eight to 15 parishioners (a commission) who lend direction to their ministries and carry out activities in their respective areas of ministry. Each commission has a representative on the Pastoral Council.
The role of the commissions is to:
- Connect with each organized ministry associated with their particular area.
- Evaluate what is going on and hold individuals and groups accountable for what they said they would do.
- Vision and make goals for the future of the parish within their particular facet of ministry.
- Create subcommittees to accomplish action plans related to the specific goals which they have set. Commission goals work in conjunction with the goals set by the Pastoral Council.
Commission members are selected by each commission in consultation with the Parish Life Director for a term of three years. Subcommittee members may or may not serve on a commission and are not subject to term limits.
Part
of the role of the Commissions is to approve
applications for new ministries. We recognize that parish life is
ever-changing and we are committed to an ongoing assessment of our
community needs
and being responsive to those needs. Accordingly, a new ministry must
be
approved by the Parish Life Director (PLD), the Vice President of the
Pastoral Council, and also the Commission to which it will
belong.
