Purpose of Position
Lead the 5:30 p.m. assembly in prayer through song, using a variety of musical instruments and styles. You may sing in the choir, play a musical instrument, be part of the sound crew, or perform administrative duties. There is a place for every young person.
Responsibilities
- Have permission from one parent or guardian
- Read, understand, and sign the Youth Choir Behavior Guidelines and Rules
- Attend weekly rehearsal and Sunday Mass.
- Commit to music or administrative duties, or both
- Participate in special functions and fundraising activities.
Skills Needed
None. We provide all the training and direction.
Amount of Time Required
5 hours per week, plus annual fundraisers and annual retreat
When Ministry is Performed
Weekly rehearsal: Friday, 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., Galilee Room, Pastoral Center
5:30 p.m. Sunday Mass: Call time is 4:15 p.m. in the church.
What to Wear
Friday rehearsals: anything
Sundays: men, collared shirt; women, nice blouse
First Sunday of each month: choir shirt
Special occasions: dressy
Length of Commitment
Any length of time — months or years
Training
Musical training, sound training, and administrative training will be provided. No previous experience required.
