Mission Statement
The Holy Family Referral Ministry reaches out to those in
need (physically, emotionally and spiritually), to the working poor, and to the
elderly in the parish community to connect them to available resources. All
services are available to parishioners and individuals living in South Pasadena, Alhambra
and El Sereno.
About the Referral Ministry
The Referral Ministry is led by a licensed clinical social
worker, a Holy Family staff member, who:
-
Refers individuals to existing local resources in the
community such as grief groups, therapists in the area who specialize in
marital counseling or communication problems
-
Advocates on behalf of individuals
-
Provides telephone support as needed
-
Provides some short- term crisis counseling
-
Notifies the community about flu shots, cooling stations for
seniors and other events
All services are confidential and are offered free of
charge.
The Referral Ministry also serves Giving Bank clients – the
“working poor” – many of whom have needs for health, school, and counseling
referrals. Services to the homeless include kits containing needed toiletries
and bus tokens when available.
We are unable to offer housing or shelter but will gladly
refer individuals to downtown shelters as needed. The ministry also assists
seniors which health services referrals as needed.
