Mission Statement
Holy Family confirmation preparation for adults provides a lively and welcoming process for adults to complete the sacraments of initiation.

About Adult Confirmation
The Adult Confirmation process is an opportunity for Catholics who have received their First Eucharist to complete the sacraments of initiation. This ten-week process emphasizes the basics of Catholic teaching using appropriate adult learning methodologies. The topics include the trinity, sacraments, prayer, and morality. The last session is a retreat-like evening of prayer, reflecting on the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Sessions are weekly, in the evening, during the winter months. The confirmation celebration takes place annually, during the Easter season, and is arranged in accordance with the Bishop’s calendar.

Adult Confirmation at Holy Family
Sometimes people reach adulthood and for one reason or another were not confirmed. Many young adults and adults would like to confirm the faith given to them by their parents and godparents. Holy Family has a ten-week process to prepare such adults for the sacrament of confirmation. This preparation usually meets once a week for two hours. Adults are confirmed at the same ceremony with the teen candidates during the Easter Season.

Requirements for Adult Confirmation Preparation

  • A Roman Catholic adult who has received first Eucharist.
  • One must select a sponsor to accompany them in the preparation process.

Requirements for Sponsors

  • A sponsor must be a confirmed Catholic who lives their faith and is willing to accept the privilege of supporting their candidate during the confirmation preparation and beyond.
  • A sponsor may not be the candidate's parent or spouse.

Highlights
Thirteen adult candidates and 80 teen candidates were confirmed at Holy Family on April 22, 2007 by Bishop Gabino Zavala.
