Women’s Reading Group

Meetings
Please join the Women's Reading Group on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m., in the Pastoral Center.

The next meeting is Tuesday, June 10, 2008. The book selection is The Hummingbird's Daughter by Luis Alberto Urrea. "From this already tumultuous tale of his great-aunt Teresa, American Book Award-winner Urrea (The Devil's Highway) fashions an astonishing novel set against the guerrilla violence of post-Civil War southwestern border disputes and incipient revolution."

Each month's book selection is available in the Holy Family Bookstore.

Men's Reading Group

Meetings
Please join the Men's Reading Group on the 3rd Tuesday of each month to discuss books concerned with religious, moral, and ethical issues, 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., Pope John XXIII Room in the Pastoral Center.

The next meeting is Tuesday, May 20, 2008. The book selection is God's Secretaries: The Making of the King James Bible by Adam Nicolson. "The King James Bible was created by - to put it kindly - very fallible mortals. King James, while intellectually sharp and politically conciliatory, also spent much time in his cups, and gave away a large part of the treasury to his - er - ‘personal' favorites at court. As for the 54 men who produced the translation at the king's request, Adam Nicolson shows them to be an amazing mixture of brilliant but obscure scholars, faintly prelates and venal grandees."

Each month's book selection is available in the Holy Family Bookstore.
