Candy and Jay Krueger

On May 20, 2017 we met at Alemany High School. Our next class will be May 27th at Alemany High School. (Please click here to read all of our experiences of the bi-monthly  Deacon formation classes)

The class today involved discussions on what impact ordination would have on us as a couple and a family as well as changes in our lives that we have experienced over the past five years of formation.  We also wrote letters to each other sharing what we discussed.

This topic was not new to Candy and Jay.  They not only discussed it at their recent retreat but has been a part of an ongoing discussion over the past few months.

The one item that Jay shared was how much closer that he and Candy had become in their faith and their ability to share and discuss it with each other.  Although each had their own spiritual life, it was not something that they shared much prior to diaconate formation.

The one item that Candy shared was how proud she was of Jay, that God created a servant heart and with this call to the Diaconate he was able to answer God’s call to become a true servant and do the true work, being the voice of those on the margins and call forth those of the parish to assist and accomplish the good works of Jesus.

We have two (actually 1 ½) classes remaining. On the 27th we will have our final class at Alemany High School. This class will conclude with going to cemetery for Evening Prayer at the grave of our Sister Tess. Candy will be the presider and Jay will be the Psalm leader. Tess was our classmate who passed away during out second year of formation.  Our final class will be on June 3rd at St. Louis of France Parish in La Puente. We will spend the morning discussing our evaluation of this year’s formation.

As of May 20th there are 20 days till ordination.

Please remember those in the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Diaconate class in your prayers we approach Ordination.

And our Diaconate Journey continues…
