by Paul Demeyer
Thursday, May 6th at 7:00 p.m. PST, via Zoom only
In this two-part presentation, Paul Demeyer will talk first about art works he’s encountered over the years that have had a strong impression on him, touching him in spirit and providing glimpses onto eternity. Secondly, he’ll share drawings from his sketchbooks and art from personal projects he’s worked on over the years, as well as images from an autobiographical graphic novel he’s just begun working on.
Paul Demeyer was born in Bruges, Belgium. He studied animation in Ghent and got his MFA at Cal Arts, Valencia. A director of animated shows and commercials in Belgium, Luxemburg and London, he’s lived in L.A. since 1993 where he’s directed TV shows for Nickelodeon and Disney Jr., numerous commercials, and the animated feature “Rugrats in Paris.” An illustrator of children’s books, Mr. Demeyer has also taught animation and storyboarding at Cal Arts and USC. Mr. Demeyer is a dedicated practitioner of meditation. He teaches meditation to adults and teenagers at Our Mother of Good Counsel, Los Feliz, and, early in the pandemic, created a short animated film on how to meditate for the World Community of Christian Meditation.
