December 1, 2013 On Tuesday of last week, we got an e-mail that we hoped  we would not receive until after Christmas; Tess, our “sister” in the Diaconate, had died of cancer.  This was just nine days after we heard the news about her diagnosis – that the cancer had returned and  she only had a few months to live. November 16, 2013 we continue our diaconate journey… This class contained something that we did not expect. Since we came together as a group a year and a half ago, we have shared who we are spiritually, emotionally, and personally. Last year as we went through the 19th annotation of the Ignatian Retreat we developed who we are spiritually and shared our growth with our Spiritual Directors and each other in our small faith groups. Diaconate Journey continues… Rite of Candidacy

November 2, 2013 we continue our diaconate journey… This was an emotional weekend. Friday was the funeral of Deacon Valentin Saucedo and Saturday was the Rite of Candidacy. Deacon Valentin, who conducted our second interview during our application for the Diaconate in August of 2011 passed away.  Over the past year, Deacon Valentin had been diagnosed with stomach cancer and had received various treatments. We last saw him at our group retreat in June, where he spoke briefly about his life …
