Reflection
In the first reading,
Isaiah shouts at me
and I want to shout
back, "Oh, that you
would rend the heav-
ens and come down,
with the mountains
quaking before you,
while you wrought
awesome deeds we
could not hope for, such as they had not heard of from old.”
But, in the hollow silence that follows my fearful outburst,
I know you are not in the heavens
but right here and everywhere. You
are here in your Wisdom in me, in
this human community, and in my
kinship with all creation. “Come”
