each year. But we all know that the pregnancy is half the process. Both Jesus
and John grew up and learned about their faith and became prophetic, calling
their brothers and sisters to deeper faith with more commitment and both of them
sacrificed their very lives for the prophetic message. Both John and Jesus gave
the ultimate gift of their lives. We too are called to radical generosity.
I think about the numerous volunteers who build up this community, the people
who give out food each Monday to the hungry. I think about the hundreds of
people who fill the food bins in the vestibules of the church each weekend so
there will be food on Monday morning. I am reminded of the unusual requests
from unusual people who want their stories listened to in just about every minis-
try. The Eucharistic ministers, lectors, greeters, musician, altar servers and their
parents, and ushers who make sure we celebrate Eucharist, at least 18 times a
week. Rarely a complaint comes from these generous people. Like Mary and
Elizabeth, they say yes to the most high!
Prayer
Hail Mary, full of grace.
Our Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy
womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
