As we grew older, the love of our faith in God has grown by leaps and bounds.
Night after night, day after day, we have seen how believing protects us from evil
and sadness and the feeling of being lost. We have learned how believing in the
mystery of our faith, of the promise of joining God and Jesus and Mary and the
Martyrs and Saints in Heaven, gives us tremendous inspiration. Hope springs
eternal from the thought that God has blessed our lives with goodness and kind-
ness.
Through our faith and believing in God and Jesus (as we declare in our Profes-
sion of Faith), our lives have been given redemption through the most troubling of
times. A child or youth who loses a parent or sibling, a mother or father who
loses a child, a wife or husband who loses a spouse, a family that has become
broken in some way, have all found renewed hope through their faith in God and
are able to persevere despite such tragic events.
In our old age, we possess more refined and experienced thoughts about what it
is to believe. We feel closer to God than ever before, glad in our hearts that be-
cause of our continued faith, we soon will be in Heaven with God and with those
we love.
Prayer
My God, I believe in You;
Please strengthen my faith.
All my hopes are in You;
Please secure them.
I love You with my whole heart;
Teach me to love You daily more and
more.
Amen.
