dren are given
strong clothes,
(particularly in the
behind area for
toddlers). Parents
and teachers give
special care to little
ones during their
development. This
is the special time
when our church
offers formation for
three sacraments:
baptism, first rec-
onciliation and first
Eucharist. With the
protection and support through baptism and the nourishment of the Eucharist children
are ready for trimming. At formation for first Reconciliation and Confirmation catechists
help young people to discern what needs to be trimmed so that these children and teens
might remain strong and firm in their religious education. As adults? There˅s an old ad-
age, if one is given to the Catholic Church for five years they will always be a Catholic.
With the primary foundation, one is rooted when winds of doubt rage, when the waters of
apathy threaten destruction, and when the floods of disappointment draw near. Still I be-
lieve, like the landmark tree, we have friends, a faith community and a church, who help
trim the unnecessary items in our lives and support us when we feel limp.
Prayer
God of nature,
Support us with your strong hand, root us with your love, and guide us with your light
We ask this in your holy name. Amen
