ˈTend my sheepˉ (John 21:16).
ˈFollow me!ˉ are the words with which Christ
leaves us in the Gospel of John. This is the
mandate of true discipleship, and in laying it
down, Jesus as so often elsewhere in the Gos-
pels creates the sense of Christian life as a
wayˁa roadˁa path with a beginning, a mid-
dle and an end. We are to follow him for the
rest of our lives through many iterations of Holy
Week, to accept the cross, to walk at his side
and ultimately move through death to resurrec-
tion.
ˈWho is the third who walks always beside you?ˉ
T. S. Eliot wondered. Celebrating Easter, we
know, understand and rejoice.
We believe.

RAYER
Almighty and most merciful God, who knows what we need before we ask,
grant that we may with rekindled faith commemorate the death and Resur-
rection of your son Jesus Christ. Look down on us this Easter with tender-
ness and mercy as we follow Him through suffering to eternal life.
