together in the temple area and to breaking bread in their homes. They ate their meals
with exultation and sincerity of heart, praising God and enjoying favor with all the people.
And every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved (Acts 2:42-
47).
The purest meaning of Pentecost is that of a time of communal renewal and worship un-
der a Triune God. That is, there is a renewed focus on ministry, empowerment from the
Holy Spirit, deeper intimacy with God, and fellowship. The celebration of Pentecost im-
parts faith, hope, a sharing of community, and an awareness of a purpose much greater
than us. As a community of Christ, Pentecost calls upon us to live in unity, sacrificing for
one another˅s needs and living in such a faithful way that the world around gets a fore-
taste of the future kingdom.
Lastly, the deeper meaning of Pentecost is that God will accomplish His purpose through
us, not because we are powerful ourselves, but because He will show His power through
us. With fervor and the Holy Spirit˅s flame in our hearts, let us fulfill Holy Family˅s mis-
sion together:

O Holy Spirit, You are the Spirit of truth, love and holiness,
proceeding from the Father and the Son, and equal to Them in all things.
I adore You and love You with all my
heart.
Teach me to know and to seek God, by
whom and for whom I was created.

love for Him.
Give me conviction and patience, and
