I love that old adage, ˈIf He brings us to it, He˅ll bring us through it.ˉ
My prayers have changed now. I rarely ask for specific outcomes, I find myself
praying to know His desire for my life, to conform my will to that desire and to
have the strength to carry it out. I know, I truly believe, that He loves me and
when I allow myself to rest peacefully in His heart, all is well, no matter what
chaos storms around me.
It seems to me that the ˈcureˉ in this story is the father (and perhaps the
town) asking for Christ˅s help and actually believing that Jesus Christ
can in fact heal the boy. The father does not stop praying and asking
God for intervention, despite his son˅s continued illness. It is the trans-
formation of the father˅s heart which allows the miracle to be performed
and perhaps is the true miracle of this event.
Prayer
Most High and glorious God, enlighten the darkness of my heart and
give me truer faith,
more certain hope and perfect charity, sense and knowledge of you, so
that I may carry out
your holy and true command for my life.
