cluding the ˈPange Linguaˉ. The feast was first es-
tablished by a local bishop in 1247 and adopted
into the calendar of the whole Church in 1264.
Through all the changes in the Church calendar
over the centuries it is one of only two ˈFeasts of
Devotionˉ that have been retained.
Today we have the opportunity to reflect on the gift
of the Eucharist. We may not walk in formal pro-
cession or sing ˈTantum Ergoˉ, but we can rever-
ently enter God˅s house and raise our voices in
song at Mass. We can receive the precious Body
and Blood of Christ with a renewed appreciation of
Christ˅s redeeming death and resurrection.

Dear ever-faithful and loving God,
You have given us the ultimate gift of Your Son and He has given us the gift of
Himself in His Body and Blood, the Eucharist.
How can we ever thank You for Your abiding presence?
Please help us to develop a deeper acceptance of Your love.
Please help us to believe You, to receive You, and to reflect your love in all that
we do.
We praise You, we bless You, we thank You. Amen
