Summary
Jesus told the Pharisees that he was not of this world; he be-
longed to what was above, and they belonged to what was from
below.
Reflection
The Pharisees were looking right at Jesus, listening
to Jesus, but refused to believe he was the Son of God. He
must be a liar. Maybe He was just crazy. They are stubborn and
unwilling to listen with open hearts. Jesus is preaching to them.
He is showing them the way. He openly admits His identity to
them.
Jesus doesn˅t tell them they will die in sin out of anger. It is be-
cause of their unwillingness to give faith. To follow the path His
light shines on. Their earthly and human fear of both the seen
and unseen blinds them. Their refusal to accept His grace and
love is all that stands between them and
salvation.
The Pharisees are not that different from
many of us. Don˅t we all sometimes refuse
to follow? Too stubborn or unwilling to turn
our lives over to Him because we think we
