Revelation 7:2-4, 9-14
Psalm 24:IBC-2, 3-4AB, 5-6
I John 3:1-3
Matthew 5:1-12A
Summary
The Book of Revelation, although symbolic in nature, truly calls us to
be discerning Christians. John tells us what he saw and how beauti-
ful Heaven will be. John’s visions of a great multitude from every na-
tion, race, people and tongue standing before the Lamb (Jesus) all
wearing white and holding palm branches which are all symbols of joy
and victory. We are also reminded that Salvation comes from the
Lord God, who is seated on the throne. There are angels all around
the throne, worshipping God and singing hymns and praise.
Reflection
This Gospel of Matthew, unlike Luke’s Gospel is addressed not only
to the disciples, but to the crowds and is known as the Beatitudes,
one of the most beloved portions of the Gospels.
I like to think of them as “Attitudes for Christian Living.” The Ten
Commandments which
were given to Moses
from God gives us a list
of “shall not’s.” How-
ever, the Beatitudes
given from Jesus are a
list of qualities and
characters of a true
person who wish to en-
