Summary
Today on Feast of the Solemnity of Christ the King, our Catho-
lic liturgical year, that follows a rhythmic cycle, comes to a close. It’s a celebra-
tion, a crossing of the bridge to the New Year that begins next week, on the First
Sunday of Advent.
Reflection
Today, in the context of Matthew 25, he
speaks of how we are to live everyday with
a sense of expectation of Christ’s return.
In the 24/7 times we are living in, perhaps
Matthew is speaking of the events and
messages we are proclaiming in our calen-
daring, our Smartphone’s, and Facebook
reflecting what is important to us. But the
fullness of message is not whether we will
mark time, but how we will do so.
How did I live the gospel for Jesus Christ
during my day and life? When I look at the
whole of God’s Word, do I see that doing
acts of justice and caring for the poor and
the oppressed has been part of God’s plan
from the very beginning?
Matthew is nourishing us to understand
and believe that God is calling us to have a
greater awareness of our responsibility in
being the hands and feet of Christ in our
