sus gives us. Prayer allows us to be transparent, not only before God, but also in
our relationships with our sisters and brothers. Saint Therese of Lisieux described
prayer as “…a surge of the heart; it is a simple look toward heaven; it is a cry of
recognition and love; embracing both trial and joy”. Prayer is a way of walking
with Jesus Christ and strengthening a personal relationship with him. Our deep
trust and faith in Christ and in God's love for us, allows us to be blessed with the
wisdom and strength of God’s Word.
St. Ignatius wrote, “All the things in this world are gifts of God, created for us, to
be the means by which we can come to know him better, love him more surely,
and serve him more faithfully.” What joy is it to receive God’s unconditional love!
Let us pray and give praise to God for his love and grace:
Sursum Corda
("Lift up
your hearts") and “Rejoice that your names
are written in heaven”.
Prayer
Holy God,
you inscribe our names in your book of life
so that we may share in the joy of salva-
tion.
Give us grace to build up
and encourage one another,
as we seek wisdom and abundant life
in the strength of your Word
and the assurance of your Spirit. Amen.
