how much more difficult is that conversation as we lay out our hopes, fears,
dreams, weaknesses? It seems impossible to face one’s own selfishness, greed,
and sinfulness while simultaneously asking for and accepting all of God’s love
and grace. Yet that is exactly what we are called to do. Do not fear speaking with
God. Do not have anxiety over yourself for you are loved truly because of who
you are, not in spite of it. The promise of prayer is not one of bending God’s will
to our own, nor is it one of control, but rather, it is a promise of God’s love,
grace, and peace.
Prayer
God,
Strengthen my voice so that I may open myself to you
Strengthen my ears so that I may hear you
Strengthen my heart so that I may know your love
And above all this, grant me peace through my days
