have the human rituals and earthly pressures taken precedence over
the divine essence in my heart? For me, it is the times when my self-
imposed shame paradigm kicks in, which fortunately continues to
wane with age. The adage ˈYou are your own worst enemyˉ comes
to mind. As Jesus says in the gospel, it is not things from the outside
that taint the soul; it is the things from within that defile us, as we at-
tempt to cling to human tradition.

RAYER
All-knowing and ever-loving God,
I pray that I may lose my ego, my pride and ˈput it againstˉ human
suffering
so that your creation may come alive in our earthly deaths,
that I may bear witness to the Pascal Mystery,
emanating Your power and glory,
so that I may serve You with a
pure heart.
