Dear Parishioners and Friends of Holy Family,
Just like you, our priests and parish staff continue to discern how to respond to the ever-changing challenges of the pandemic. Our understanding of how best to meet the needs of our parishioners is constantly evolving!
Even though it was for only two short weeks, it was wonderful to reopen the church doors and celebrate Mass with parishioners. For the many who were not comfortable sharing in a public celebration, we continue to be incredibly grateful to our Video Ministry team which each week offers livestreaming of the Mass to thousands of people, both near and far.
Now that our Church doors have reclosed, we are focused on those who have expressed hunger for the Eucharist, and the reception of the sacraments. Together, our priests and staff have created guidelines to offer the Holy Eucharist in the Church parking lot, as well as one outdoor Mass on Sundays at 8:00 a.m., outdoor weddings, funerals and baptisms, with the hope of lessening the anxiety of isolation with the presence of Christ in the sacraments.
THE DISTRIBUTION OF HOLY EUCHARIST FROM 12:15 P.M. TO 1:00 P.M. BEGINNING THIS SUNDAY
Our “new norm” for the distribution of the Holy Eucharist will begin this Sunday, July 26th, from 12:15 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Church parking lot. Communion will be distributed to communicants in their cars only. Please remember that as Catholics we believe that Eucharist is served in the context of a community of shared worship, and we encourage you to participate in the 9:30 a.m. or 11:15 a.m. Mass online so that you are prepared to receive Jesus in the Eucharist.
It is critical that you follow the procedures below for your safety and that of our priests, staff and volunteers:
1) Enter the Oak Street entrance into the Church parking lot by car.
2) Please follow the directions of the parking attendant and volunteers as you join the communion procession line.
3) Please remain in your car at all times.
4) While waiting in line, please keep your mask on at all times.
5) You will be able to drop off your offertory gift at this time, if you wish, and also receive a copy of the bulletin.
6) You will be asked to sanitize your hands before receiving communion.
7) After receiving communion, please keep your mask on until the Eucharistic Minister has walked at least six feet away from your car. You may then remove your mask and consume the host.
8) Please exit through the Rollin Street entrance, following the direction of the parking attendant, who may ask you to make a left turn onto Rollin if traffic is backed up at the light on Fremont.
If you would like to volunteer as a Eucharistic Minister or a greeter offering hand sanitizer on future Sundays, please contact Mary Schimmoller at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Should you wish for one of our priests to hear your confession, please call the Pastoral Center at (626) 799-8908 to make an appointment.
OUTDOOR WEDDINGS, FUNERALS AND BAPTISMS
Outdoor weddings, funerals and baptisms will be celebrated in the Gathering Area during this time that we are unable to gather in the Church. We will be limiting the number of guests to 30 people to ensure adequate social distancing. Every participant/guest must wear a mask, sanitize their hands and do a symptom check for the health and safety of all those gathered.
Please click here for the complete Guidelines for Outdoor Wedding, Funerals and Baptisms.
We are so happy to announce that after much planning and preparation we are finally ready to offer an in-person Mass – outdoors! As of Sunday, September 20th, we will begin a weekly outdoor Sunday Mass at 8 a.m. in the Gathering Area.
All are welcome to join us!
We will not be creating an online sign-up for this 8:00 a.m. Mass at this point nor will we be livestreaming it and every participant/guest must wear a mask, sanitize their hands and do a symptom check for the health and safety of all those gathered.
