FR. JAMES “JIM” V. MARCHIONDA, OP, is a Dominican priest, preacher, composer and woodwind instrumentalist (clarinet and saxophone) who, after being engaged in full-time parish mission preaching from 1994 – 2015, was elected Provincial of the Dominican Province of St. Albert the Great, based in Chicago.

Re-elected to a second term in August 2019, he continues to serve his Dominican community in a region spanning 14 states throughout the Midwest. In addition to administrative responsibilities, Fr. Jim maintains a limited schedule of preaching engagements whenever possible.

A noted composer for Chicago-based World Library Publications for over 35 years, one of his compositions, I Was Hungry, was sung during the communion rite at the funeral of Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Fr. Jim’s CDs and music collections are now available through G.I.A. Publications.
