On Thursday, September 24, 2015, His Holiness Pope Francis of the Holy See, will address a Joint Meeting of Congress in the Hall of the House of Representatives. Congresswoman Chu has been allotted 50 tickets for a screening of the address on the West Front Lawn of the U.S. Capitol (standing room only). A limited number of jumbotrons will be placed on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol for broadcast of Pope Francis’ address to Congress. While a clear line-of-sight cannot be guaranteed for all attending the West Front broadcast, the space provides an opportunity for constituents to be part of the event. There is no guarantee that the Pope will come out and say hello to the crowd, but we have heard that he hopes to if his schedule allows.
We are currently looking to see if there are any residents of California’s 27th District who would be interested in attending the event. If anyone from the area will be in Washington, D.C. and is interested, please have them contact Laura Driscoll at (202) 225-5464 to learn more about the event. We plan on reserving tickets on a lottery basis, but we are not sure how strong interest will be.
