a family member to whom you’ve not spoken in awhile. Reach out to that
off-kilter uncle in Iowa; re-connect with the cousin who was your confidante
in middle school; embrace the nephew who was the fervent supporter of the
other candidate. Stop and talk to your elderly neighbor next door instead of
rushing on to the next errand. Don’t let those who are distant become for-
gotten. Reach out this sea-
son in the spirit of being a
part of God’s holy family
here on earth.
Then do it again in January.
Prayer
Father, we look to you for
strength in dealing with our
family – both those we love
easily and those who may be
more difficult to love.
Though we can’t shorten the
miles between us, You can bridge the distance in our hearts. Lead us over
the bridge. Amen.
