Today I cancelled my box of fruit and vegetables that come to my
home each week. I’ll be away next week and would hate to have
the fruit and vegies to spoil on the front porch. As I clicked the on
-line box to suspend the service for one week, it asked, “would you
like to donate the food to someone in need?” I thought, in my joy
of the Christmas season, “sure.” I clicked the box and felt good
for about a minute of two. Then I thought, would I do the same in
February of July? Why is it that we feel so generous at this time of
year?
I would like to pray to be
more like Hannah, once giv-
en a gift, share that gift gen-
erously, forever and always.
Prayer
Gracious God, who willingly
came to earth as a humble
child, who called all of us to
great love. Help me to share
love each day. And may I be
like Mary, always willing to
say “yes.”
