ideal toward which we sinful, self-centered believers are striving. Prayer helps;
indeed, it is a necessity.
Such a faith-filled life, even though lived imperfectly, is attractive. Living as a
Christian is evangelizing. So is expressing concern for the poor and defenseless
in our society, and working in the political arena to make our country ever more
just and fair.
But it would seem we are all called to do more than this. We all have family,
friends or acquaintances who are searching for, or lacking, meaning in their lives.
We can be alert to the opportunities to invite them to join us in some faith activity.
Our faith is a treasure of great price. We cannot hoard it.

O God, My loving father, help me to live this day with a heart filled with grati-
tude and joy, and a generous spirit.
