UMMARY
Both of these readings focus on the idea that God˅s word is proclaimed by those
who are doing His work on earth with the human race. In Acts, the Holy Spirit
calls out Paul and Barnabas ˀ after fasting and praying, their companions laid
hands on Paul and Barnabas and sent them off to do the work for which they˅d
been called. In the reading from the Gospel of John, Jesus declares that he has
been sent by the Father and that the Father has commanded Jesus what to say
and to speak. Jesus also proclaims that He is sent to save the world and bring
light into the world, not to condemn it.

EFLECTION
The use of the words ˈsendˉ or ˈsentˉ is something most (all?) of us do every
day ˀ to the point of banality. We send our kids to school, packages across the
country and an endless number of emails &
text messages. It˅s one of those words
that˅s so common, there seems to be no
need to look it up in a dictionary. But, I did:
the definition is ˈ... to cause, permit, or en-
able to goˎˉ as well as ˈˎ to cause to be
conveyed or transmitted to a destinationˎˉ.
