UMMARY
Jesus tells His disciples that He is the vine and his Father is the vine
grower. A branch cannot bear its own fruit unless it remains on the
vine. He tells them that they can bear much fruit on the vine, but bear
nothing without remaining a part of the vine.

EFLECTION
I often struggle with wanting to know God˅s plan for me; thinking that
there is some sort of preordained path that I am supposed to follow.
I tell Him often that if He would just lead me to said path, I would
gladly follow. Today˅s Gospel is an
excellent lesson that illustrates the fu-
tility of my ongoing search for this
mythical, pre-set path. The truth is,
God doesn˅t work that way in my life.
Jesus is the vine and God the vine
grower. I am but a branch. Branches
on a vine do not sprout according to
some sort of orderly law of nature. The
