1 Kings 11:4-13
Psalm 106:3-4, 35-36, 37 and 40
Mark 7:24-30
Summary
Solomon disobeyed God, he chose to worship those idols which were
false due to the influence of his wives. His faith had wavered. God
did not punish Solomon for his disobedience. God upheld his cove-
nant with David and therefore did not punish Solomon but extracted
his anger on Solomon˅s son. The story of Jesus at Tyre was one of
faith; have faith in me and I shall work wonders for you.
Reflection
How easy it is to turn away from God? Life gives us many chal-
lenges. It is easy to be influenced by our friends and family. It is
easy to lose faith when things are not go-
ing well in life. It is difficult to always do
what is right, when our faith is weak. I am
reminded of when my daughter was little
and I was telling her to be ˄good˅ and she
asked ˄for how long?˅ How long do we
have to be good? Being good in God˅s
eyes is about the nature of your heart: we
are blessed when we commit to being
good in our heart. This is our faith to God.
Be faithful to God and all that he promises
to us. All God asks is that we have faith in
him, in his direction for us and for what he
provides for us. Jesus re-iterated this
