Summary
We are reminded that God's word is the truth, and we are required to
remain steadfast in our beliefs.
Reflection
In the first reading, we are reminded that through the faithful teach-
ings of our Catholic faith, we have been taught the truth: “Let what
you heard in the beginning remain in you.” We know what is right. We
are called to remain steadfast in our beliefs; especially when chal-
lenged: “I write these things about those who would deceive you.”
The world has always stood against the word of God. It is up to us to
remember the true teachings of the Church, and to remain faithful un-
til the end: “And so now children, remain in him,so that when he ap-
pears,we may have confidence,and not be put to shame by him at his
coming.”
The Responsorial Psalms praise God for His wondrous deeds, and
remind us how important it is to sing and pray to God! We must al-
ways be thankful for all He does, and for all of our gifts.
Finally, John the Baptist tells us the story of how the people in power
during his time, the Pharisees, questioned him about who he was:
“Why then do you baptize if you're not the Christ,or Elijah, or the
Prophet?”He tells them the truth: “I baptize with water, but there is
