ness, poverty or a lack of education). This is where Jesus˅ message is so
powerful. God lives and breathes in each one of us. We must deeply un-
derstand that each one of us is the
imago dei
, God˅s image and likeness.
If this truth, revealed to us through the commandments and again through
Jesus, is not fully internalized, how can we neither show partiality to the
weak nor deference to the mighty? How are we going to act out of the di-
vine love of which Jesus speaks? ˈI was thirsty and you gave me drink. I
was naked and you clothed me, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked
and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited
me.ˉ We may do this for our friends, our neighbors next door, but we are
called to see God˅s face in both the mighty and the weak, those known
and unknown to usˎan enormous challenge but a simple call.
Prayer
Lord, you moved me to tell my child the other day, ˈHow do you eat an
elephant? One bite at a time.ˉ Please give me the courage to begin the
first step in seeing You in each person I see throughout the day.
ˈSmall things with great loveˎIt is not how much we do, but how much
love we put into the doing. And it is not how much we give, but how much
love we put into the giving. To God there is nothing small (Mother
Theresa).ˉ
Amen
