tion, discrimination, pollution, and destruction of the environment. The most im-
portant question is: am I ready to face my death? A strange question and its
truthful answer are found in the sacred scriptures of the Hindus. ˈWhat is the
greatest wonder in the world?ˉ The answer is: ˈAll of us know that we will surely
die, but each of us foolishly thinks that he or she will not die any time in the near
future." Let us not be foolish; let us be wise, well-prepared and ever ready to
meet our Lord with a clear conscience when the time comes.
The core of that preparation and the basis of such a clear conscience is the
FAITH that JESUS IS THE RESURRECTION AND LIFE. Jesus offers ˈeternal life,ˉ
which begins with faith now and lasts forever in its fullness. Remember the ques-
tion of Jesus and the answer of Martha: ˈDo
you
believe this, Martha?ˉ Martha
answered,
ˈI have come to believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, the
one who is coming into the world.ˉ
Martha pronounced her confession of faith as
a response to Jesus who had revealed himself as the resurrection and the life.
Her faith did not depend upon seeing her brother raised from the dead. Proof
begets knowledge and confirms faith; faith does not rest on proof.
Faith begets love; Love begets faith. My faith in God is the proof of my love for
my God; a love manifested through my love and concern for my brothers and
sisters, the Lazaruses around us who are in need of our help to experience the
resurrection, the love by being liberated.
Prayer
O˅ Lord of Life, our Savior, help us to experience the fullness of life by liberating
us from all powers of death and darkness. Bring us to the awareness of all those
powers to which we are enslaved and to the awareness that we need to be liber-
ated. So that we can partake in your resurrection starting here and now, and be
prepared for the eternal bliss. Amen
