If all we believe is
what's right in front of
us (the literal words),
then how can we un-
derstand or appreci-
ate the full glory of
Christ's message to
us?
The exquisite revela-
tion of God's Word to
us is multilayered,
deep and profound.
We cannot hope to
comprehend it with a literal, cursory, shallow examination of it. Instead we
are invited to probe our hearts, use our reasoning, confer with others to
try to gain a fuller understanding of these holy words. In this way, we push
past the obvious and work towards a deeper, more satisfying scriptural ex-
perience.
In life, nothing worthwhile comes easy-- in our spiritual life, it is the same.
P
RAYER
Dear loving Creator,
Give us the wisdom to see the deeper meaning of your Word, the patience
to work towards greater understanding, and the strength to live it in our
daily lives.
Amen.
