to live with him; we see things in a new way, we are transformed.
This transformation is not something we do ourselves, but comes
from giving ourselves over to God. We are helpless without Him.
In my personal life I need to constantly be reminded to give my time
to prayer. As with most of us, there are so many distractions that I
forget that everything I have comes from God and the most valuable
gift I could have is to be one with Him. Most of my prayers are infor-
mal, I talk to God a lot during the day when I need His help or re-
member someone else who needs His help. My “arrow” prayers
(those that come to me on the spur of the moment) are most effec-
tive. My prayer focus at night is not on something to earn God’s love,
but about doing something to show my gratitude. I especially value
the Mass, for not only does it allow me to pray with others, it offers
every form of prayer – repentance, petition, thanksgiving and praise.
Receiving Christ in the Eucharist is the highlight of my prayer life.
Prayer
Dear God, thank you for the gift of eternal life; unearned, unwar-
ranted, and so
generously offered by your own death on the cross. I know you love
me and don’t intend
to lose me. Help me to put my treasure and
my heart with You.
