Romans 14:7-12
Psalm 27:BCDE, 4, 13-14
Luke 15:1-10
Summary
In first reading God reminds us that we are all his children, we
all “live and die for the Lord”. God cares for all of his children,
and we must all stand before God, not each other. “Why then do you judge your
brother or sister?” Or you, why do you look down on your brother or sister?” The
Gospel reiterates this message for Jesus chose to “dine with sinners”.
Reflection
When first reading these scripture passages, I was reminded of a phrase my
daughter learned in kindergarten, that phrase was “Take care of your own-self”.
This message in kin-
dergarten was to re-
mind the children to not
bother other children or
to not “tell on each
other”. But I believe
the message is as ap-
propriate for adults as
it is for children. In the
first reading God re-
minds us that we are
his children and that as
his children, we are
accountable to God for
our thoughts and ac-
tions. We should not
be judging others,
whether those people
be of other faiths, peo-
ple who have hurt or
