As with the crowds in the reading from Luke, I believed demons were responsible
for all my travails and it took years before I understood the demons were
me. The famous 1950s cartoon figure Pogo said, "we have met the enemy, and
the enemy is us." I had met the enemy and the enemy was me.
When I turn to God and ask His help

as I had forgotten to
),
when I try to let God
control my life and live up to His expectations, God reigns in my heart. Life con-
tinues
,
so dark days inevitably occur
,
but even on the darkest day I live in the
light of God's love.
Prayer
First and always, Lord Jesus,
help me remember to pray that
thy will be done, not mine.
