Like Luke, we all have divinely inspired gifts, ones that we may not recognize.
How we deliver the message of the Gospel every day – in our workplace, in our
homes, in club meetings and other social functions – can have just as much im-
pact as the written Gospel, perhaps even more so since messages delivered by
friends are often more powerful and more lasting than those delivered by strang-
ers. Often the work of delivering the Gospel is something best done by each of
us, not “professional” preachers and missionaries, even if we are not gifted writ-
ers or speakers, for the Gospel is not only conveyed by words but by our actions,
how we live our lives for all to see. Or as St. Francis is said to have put it:
“Preach the Gospel always; if necessary, use words”.
Prayer
Lord, please grant me the strength to share the Gospel
to whoever will listen in whatever way is needed. Make
me a good messenger, one who actually listens to and
believes in the message I deliver. Finally, grant me pa-
tience and understanding when my message is not re-
ceived well or delivered as planned. Let those experi-
ences not discourage me from sharing the message
with others. I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
