Summary
In Luke 14:12-14, Jesus instructs us, when we hold a banquet, to invite
only the poor, crippled, lame and blind, so that we will not receive re-
payment in a returned invitation. Instead, because our guests’ inability
to repay the invitation, we will have secured repayment “at the resurrec-
tion”.
Reflection
In this passage,
Jesus instructs us

payment “at the resurrec-
tion”, the ultimate repay-
ment. But; his ways are
many and wise, for he has
also included instructions
for repayment in this life.
If we follow his instructions,
then when we reach those
points in life where we are
alone with our thoughts, we
can be sure that those
thoughts will keep our
company rather than haunt
us. We can reflect on the
good acts done, instead of
the favors owed.
