pleship. God expects an integral response of mind, soul and body from those he
calls.
As Christian disciples, immersed into the blood bath of Christ˅s paschal mystery,
we are called to participate in the divine saving plan ˈwith worksˉ flowing out
from a living faith. The easy way is often the wrong way, and the right way is of-
ten the difficult path to follow. Let us pray that we will always choose the right
way in whatever decision we have to make. Let us pray that when necessary we
will be able to renounce ourselves, take up our cross and follow Jesus. We will
understand why anyone who loses his life for the sake of Jesus and the Gospel
will save it:
ˈWhoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his
cross, and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake and that of the gospel will
save it.ˉ (Mark 8:34-35)

Hear, Lord, the prayers we offer from
contrite hearts.
Hear, Lord, the prayers we offer from
contrite hearts.
Have pity on us as we acknowledge our
sins.
Lead us back to the way of holiness.
Protect us now and always from the
wounds of sin.
May we ever keep safe in all its fullness,
the gift your love once gave us;
and your mercy now restores.
Amen.
