EFLECTION
Jews were literally
shocked
when they learned Peter had eaten with uncircum-
cised Gentiles. In an unusual response, Peter patiently relayed to them a story
about a voice who had spoken three separate times to him, basically telling him
that ˈWhat God has made clean, you are not to call profane.ˉ God gave Peter the
patience, conviction and foresight to share this with the doubting Jews, not too
unlike the parable stories Jesus frequently told.
ˈIf God gave (the Gentiles) the same gift he
gave usˎ who was I to hinder God?ˉ, he told
the skeptics. Now they understood. What faith,
what love Peter had for God and his fellow
