UMMARY
Jesus and Paul are both leaving their friends behind. Paul entreats
those at Ephesus to watch over one another after he has gone. He
reminds them that they should work hard and help the weak, be vigi-
lant of those who will come after him. Jesus asks God to protect them
after He leaves the world and to keep them from the evil on the world.
R
EFLECTION
As we move through life, it is
inevitable that we lose things
that are precious to us ˀ par-
ents, friends, spouses, chil-
dren. Loss of a parent, even
after a long illness which
would seemingly give one time
to mentally and emotionally
prepare, is difficult, and leaves
an empty spot in your heart.
The sudden, unexpected death
of a spouse is devastating; the
world turns sideways and may
never completely right itself.
The empty spot recedes with
time, but never seems to com-
pletely fill.
