faith is not about constricting us with prohibition against sin; it frees us to be our
true selves.
If God is our Father, we are His children. God does not want to change us, but
for us to be our own true best selves. We are free to be us.
That we are God’s children is the fundamental revelation of Jesus. Our prayer,
the rituals of the Church, the sacraments are all aids in helping us realize this and
achieve this. Our divine parenthood means that we, however imperfect, even sin-
ful, are good. It means we are lovable and empowered to be loving. We are
called to nourish the goodness, the godliness, in ourselves and in every moment
of our lives. We are called to be “co-creators” of our self and the world God in-
tends.
What an awesome gift God has showered upon us. What
an awesome gift that infuses us with love and the power to
love in return. God calls us to be His co-creators; His
daughters and sons.
Prayer
God, my Father, be present with me this day in my heart,
my thoughts, and especially my actions. Help me to be what
I am: Your son (daughter).
