necks "stiff" in our refusal to take "correction"? Has "faithfulness"
disappeared from our vocabulary, a word that we no longer use to
describe ourselves?
Have you ever wondered why it is that we get our hearts broken so
often in this life? Could it possibly be that the only way we will listen
to our God is when our hearts are softened or even torn open?
The Psalmist movingly describes what God wants our relationship to
be like with Him. We will "joyfully sing psalms to Him....we will bow
down in worship....we will kneel before the Lord who has made
us...for He is our God, and we are the people He shepherds".
"If today you hear His voice, harden not your hearts."
Prayer
My God and my shepherd,
You listen to me more deeply than I dare to know.
You know my inmost being and you love me.
Give me the grace, the desire, to welcome your love.
Help me not to be afraid to be close to you, to be touched by you.
Soften my heart with my tears of pain and neediness,
and come into the place where I live, where I wait for you.
Amen
