of “video time” – because we think this is what is best for them. In the same
way, perhaps God’s answers are ones which guide us towards Him and His
will, and away from the “idols” referred to at the end of the first reading.
Like children, we may think that the latest technology or fashion, being invit-
ed to or included in a high status social group, and so on is what we want,
that it will make us happy. And it may, at least for a few moments, but it
may draw us away from what is truly important.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, you know the desires of our hearts and what we truly need.
Draw our gaze back to you, and mold our hearts to conform to your will, so
they we can receive the blessings you wish to give us.
