Diaconate Journey Continues… Matrimony!

Candy and Jay Krueger

March 4, 2017 we continue our diaconate journey…. We will be at Alemany High School for our next class on the 18th of March. The morning will be spent at the High School with the afternoon spent at Mass with Archbishop Gomez for “Call to Orders” followed by dinner with the Archbishop. (Please click here to read all of our experiences of the bi-monthly  Deacon formation classes)

Today, it was Jay’s turn for the Matrimony practicum. It consisted of Jay, assisted by Candy, performing a matrimony rite for two of our classmates with another two being the best persons. While Donna and Mike have been married for many years, as they renewed their vows to one another and shared that precious moment when once again they were introduced as husband and wife, all those in attendance saw the devotion and commitment they have for one another.  It was a joyous practicum, Jay giving the final blessing in chant, a first for him as well as for the class.

We have completed two-thirds of our practicums with the last third being Deacon at the Altar which will start with our April 8th  class, this covers all aspects of what a Deacon does during Mass. Having witnessed most of the practicums we see the individual’s attentions to detail as well their own personal additions to each one of the ceremonies.

In the afternoon, we discussed how to conduct Eucharistic Adoration & Benediction, our ordination and retreat. As of March 4th there are 97 days till ordination.

Please remember those in the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Diaconate class in your prayers we enter into our last few months of formation.

And our Diaconate Journey continues…

If you have any questions about what we have experienced in the diaconate (aka “that deacon thing”), please ask us or send us an e-mail to gbmom_01_02@yahoo.com.
