through the same mud, tripping on the same stones, suffering in the same heat,
the same restraints. My “burden”
is
his burden, we are in it together. So much so
that it is as if we are “yoked” together, I cannot get away from him even if I wish
to do so. Imagine, the Creator of the Universe, loving me enough to become like
me and walk next to me sharing the weight of this world. And, the two of us are
tilling the soil, in the hopes that through our united labor, something wonder-
ful will spring forth from these fields. Oh yes,
that
is the Incarnation.
And, not only this, but I realized that for most of my life
I
had been the one de-
ciding where to go, how to live, what my cross is, yes hopefully in a non-selfish
way, but still…, Jesus offers me
his
yoke.
His
yoke and
his
burden are light. He
invites me to lay down my burden and take-up the one that he has planned for
me, and as we are “lifting it” together, with him bearing most of it I’m sure, the
weight will not crush me.
Prayer
My Dear and Loving Father,
You are truly anAWESOME God and your works, including me, are wonderful-
ly made. Thank you for gifting me with this beautiful life. Thank you for shar-
ing it with me so intimately. I believe that you are with me in times of joy and
in times of dark despair. Even when I don’t seem to“feel” your presence, my
faith tells me that you are with me, that you love me, that you desire to give me
rest by carrying the weight of my life with me, the weight of the world. Let me
rest in your loving embrace this Advent. Thank you for becoming one of us,
thus ensuring, through your life, death and resurrection, that I will be with you
always
. Amen
