Summary
In the first reading, John is explaining to the reader not to
“trust” those antichrists, or those false teachers. The
knowledge of Jesus Christ and his teachings are what to be
trusted. In the Gospel, John talks about theWord and Light
of God, which is Jesus. Jesus is theWord of God and our
Light, whom came to this World to bestow grace and
knowledge upon us.
Reflection
In this octave of Christmas, we are reminded by these readings
that God loves us so much he sent his only son, Jesus, to be
our Word and our Light. Through the teachings of Jesus, we
are able to have grace and truth embrace our lives. By accept-
ing Jesus into our lives, we have truly become children of God.
I was reminded today of a saying I have at home,“Always Kiss
me Goodnight”. It is a constant reminder to me to not be an-
gry/frustrated/anxious when I go to bed. It is the perfect
thought for this day. We are about to embark on a new year,
how great to say every day to Jesus,“Always Kiss me Good-
night”! He can relieve all of these Earthly anxieties and bring
us closer to God. So I say, Please Kiss Me Goodnight and Let
us All KissYou!
